When I started with the idea of backpacking back in 2018, I quickly came to realize that it was going to take some time and money to figure what I needed to actually be able to do a multi-night backpacking trip comfortably. Since then, I have been refining and replacing my gear as I discover what works well for me....and what doesn't!

What I Wore Out on the Trail
These are the items I wore each day, every day. SmartWool is amazing for not holding odors and so great to wear on multi-day hiking trips, but I am not going to lie, we all start to stink after about 4 days......
Hat
Sunglasses
SmartWool Tank Top
Senchi Designs Polartec Alpha Fleece (Gear Pick #5- new for 2022)
Patagonia Happy Hike Pants
SmartWool socks, sportsbra and underwear
Salomon X Ultra Hiking Shoes
A Few Things I Left at Home....
The Life Straw: While it weights hardly anything, the Life Straw usually just sits at the bottom of my pack. I opted to leave it home this summer. And since I have water purification tablets, these serve as a backup to my water filtration system.
Rain Pants: I didn't need these in Colorado, but I SHOULD have taken these with me to Wyoming! Lesson learned!
